Homemade Snicker Bars Recipe
It’s Halloween season here, and I can already picture the mountains of candy my kids are about to bring home (not exactly something I’m looking forward to!).
Some of those treats will be Snicker bars, and I must admit—I love them and can’t resist enjoying a few this time of year!
So, why not make a healthier version with natural ingredients like almond flour and dates? This recipe for homemade snicker bars does not need refined sugar—dates provide all the natural sweetness you need!
You can dip the bars in melted chocolate for that classic Snickers experience or drizzle a little chocolate on top for a lighter, less sweet version.

Homemade Snicker Bars with Natural Ingredients (Peanuts-free)
Ingredients
Base layer
Caramel layer
Nut layer
Chocolate coating
Instructions
Prepare the Base Layer
-
Combine almond flour, cocoa powder, melted coconut oil, maple syrup (or honey), and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. Mix well until it forms a sticky dough.
-
Line an 8x4 inch loaf pan with parchment paper (or use a nut bar mold; I ended up with five large bars), and press the dough evenly into the bottom to form the base layer.
-
Place the pan in the freezer to set while preparing the caramel layer.
Make the Caramel Layer
-
Drain the soaked dates and add them to a food processor or blender with almond butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
-
Blend until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. If the mixture is too thick, add a small splash of warm water to help it blend smoothly.
-
Spread the caramel layer evenly over the base layer in the pan.
Add the Nut Layer
-
Sprinkle the hazelnuts or almonds over the caramel layer, pressing them gently to adhere.
-
Place the pan back in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes to set.
Chocolate Coating
-
Melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
-
Use a sharp knife to slice into bars or squares.
-
You can dip the bars into melted chocolate, just like the real Snickers bars, or sprinkle some melted chocolate over them.
-
Return the pan to the freezer for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
Serve
-
Once set, remove the parchment paper from the freezer and let it sit for a minute to soften slightly. Then, lift the parchment paper from the pan and place it on a cutting board.
